Dining with Dogs on the North Fork of Long Island, New York

Logo "Dogs Invited"As of March 15, 2016, The Health Department finalized rules on the “Dining with Dogs” legislation passed by the State Legislature last session. The law, sponsored by Assembly Member Linda B. Rosenthal, authorizes restaurants to allow pet dogs in certain defined outdoor dining areas. This law allows municipalities to establish rules and enforce the new measures. Public Health Law § 1352-e provides that pet dogs may be allowed in an outdoor area of a food service establishment if the owner of the establishment elects to allow them.
